Welcome to my site for Climacophobia. What is Climacophobia?

Climacophobia is the fear of stairs, fear of climbing stairs and fear of falling down stairs. Climacophobia develops when someone has a bad situation or traumatic event occur in their life involving stairs (i.e., seeing someone fall down stairs, losing ones breathe and passing out before reaching the top of the stairs, seeing someone die from climbing or falling down stairs, etc.). Climacophobia is considered a social phobia because despite the understanding by the individual and reassurance by others that there is no danger of in climbing or falling down the stairs they still panic. However, some might think Climacophobia would be considered a specific phobia because the sight of the stairs could cause someone to panic, but this type of fear is actually called Bathmophobia, which is the fear of stairs, stairways or steep slopes. What are the symptoms of Climacophobia?

As with any phobia, the symptoms vary by person depending on their level of fear. The symptoms of Climacophobia typically include extreme anxiety, dread and anything associated with panic such as shortness of breath, rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, excessive sweating, nausea, dry mouth, nausea, inability to articulate words or sentences, dry mouth and shaking.

Can I take medicine for Climacophobia?

Medicine can be prescribed for Climacophobia. Please note that these medications can have side effects and/or withdrawal systems that can be severe. It is also importation to note that medicines do not cure Climacophobia, at best they only temporarily suppress the systems. However, there are treatments for Climacophobia, which include counseling, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, and Neuro-Linguistic programming.
